1. Visa requirements for entry in Republic of China, Taiwan

The passport must NOT be noted: “Prohibited from entering the Republic of China”.

Please access the website: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw to fill out application form online and print it out.

The applicant must sign the form to confirm the truthfulness of the form’s contents.

The photographs must be 2"x2" in size.

The photographs must be taken within the last six months.

The photographs must be in color, and must be taken against an white background.

The invitation letter will be provided to EPGT to participants by the EPGT organizing committee.

2. Visitor Visa Information on Republic of China 

Eligibility

Foreign nationals, who hold ordinary passports or other legal travel documents and who intend to stay in Taiwan for no more than six months for the purposes of transit; tour; visit relatives; undertake visits; undertake inspection tours; attend international conferences; conduct business; pursue short-term study; undertake short-term employment; undertake short-term missionary work; and engage in other activities in the ROC as approved by MOFA.

Requirements

1.   A passport valid for at least six months;

2.  A duly completed application form with two photos taken within the past six months;

3. An outbound airline ticket or verifiable proof of purchase of steamship ticket ;

4. Documents verifying the purpose of visit; and

5. Other relevant documents.

Visa Validity

1. For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the validity of their Visitor Visas shall be decided in accordance with these agreements.

2. For other foreign nationals, a Visitor Visa is generally valid from three months up to one year.

Duration of stay

1. Fourteen days

2. Thirty days

3. Sixty days

4. Ninety days

Fee

1. For foreign nationals from the countries with which the ROC has entered into reciprocal visa agreements, the visa is issued gratis.

2. For other foreign nationals, the visa fees are: single entry: NT$ 1,600 (US$ 50). (Reimbursed by EPGT to participants with official receipt).

Remarks

Visitor Visa holders who are permitted to stay in Taiwan for sixty or ninety days and whose visas bear NO such remark as "no extension will be granted" may apply at local service centers of the National Immigration Agency for a maximum of 120 or 90 days of extensions.

3.3 Notices

   3.3.1 Visas are issued as stipulated by Article 12 of the Statute Governing Issuance of ROC Visas for Foreign Passports. As a sovereign nation, the ROC has the right to refuse applications for visas without providing any explanation for such decisions; visa application fee is non-refundable.

   3.3.2 Please refer to the "Standard Fees for Republic of China (Taiwan) Visas in Foreign Passports.doc".

   3.3.3 The R.O.C. recognizes the foreign passports whose holders have obtained them in accordance with the general principles of international law only, i.e. obtaining them by birth or through naturalization with their de facto dwelling period having reached the legal requirement set by the countries concerned. As for those who have obtained their foreign passports in other ways, e.g. through investment or by purchase, the overseas missions of the R.O.C. shall not accept their visa application in most cases.

4.2 Nationals from the following countries applying for visitor visas to the R.O.C. must submit their application at the designated overseas missions.

4.3 Attention

The forms of visa application and Guarantee can be downloaded from the Bureau's website and are available free of charge at the Bureau of Consular Affairs and branch offices of MOFA.

5. Travel Information before reachingTaiwan

5.1 Visas

Foreign travelers may obtain tourist visas if they hold foreign passports or travel documents valid for more than six months in the Republic of China for purposes of sightseeing, business, family visits, study or training, medical treatments, or other legitimate activities. Visa requirements included one completed application form, incoming and outgoing travel tickets, one photo, documents verifying the purpose of the visits, and other relevant documents. The Visitor Visa Application Form can be downloaded from the website of the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The completed form should be submitted to an overseas mission of the Republic of China for visa issuances.

5.2 Traveler Luggage Clearance

Foreign Currencies: Value over US$10,000 must be declared.

New Taiwan Currency: Under NT$60,000, a traveler should apply for the permission to the Central Bank for amounts over such value. There is no restriction on the amount of gold that a traveler can bring out of Taiwan; however, a traveler should declare to the customs office. When carrying out gold valued over US$20,000 out of Taiwan, a traveler should apply for an export permit to the Board of Foreign Trade, MOEA (Tel : +886-2-2351-0271 ext. 352) and apply for customs clearance to the customs office.
