Environmental Studies and Industrial Safety Program

Environmental problems and industrial safety issues are two of the most important concerns in the twenty-first century. No single field of study can encompass all topics relevant to the environment and industrial safety. In the Environmental Studies and Industrial Safety program, faculty members from areas including chemical engineering, chemistry, biomedical engineering science, environmental science, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, life science, economy, and liberal education join together to create a new interdisciplinary major focused on human-environment interactions.

For environmental studies, the curriculum emphasizes flexibility and provides an early grounding in the three different perspectives:
1. environmental science
2. environmental technology
3. environmental management

The Industrial Safety Program provides students with basic and engineering technology training. This program allows students to enter a broadly based program, take a number of common courses and then specialize along the lines of environmental science and engineering or industrial safety-related subjects.
