下面是他的回答:
Dear Lucas,
It is a complicated process to make the maps we publish in Sky & Telescope.
Roger Sinnott, associate editor, has written software to produce maps that
are output as vector (eps) files. We in the Art and Design department then
use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to finish them.
Unfortunately, Roger's software is not available to the public. I'm aftaid
all you can do is buy something like "The Sky"since there just is not much
of a market for software to make maps suitable for publishing.
The best you can do (if you can't write your own software) is plot a map in
"The Sky" for positions, then use it as a guide draft over with a vector
drawing program.
I'm glad you like our maps in S&T.
I'm sorry I can't be of more help to you.
Sincerely,
Steven A. Simpson (Associate Art Director)
