The Introduction of the Center for Students with Disability at the NTHU, 2006

History

The Center for Students with Disability (CSD) was established as a division of the Counseling Center in the Student Affairs in 1994. With love and concern, the CSD serves the students of disability. Currently, Professor Wu Jia-Yu is responsible for supervising the programs provided by the CSD. Three full-time counselors, Xu Shi-Mei, Chen Jia-Yu, and, Zeng Shi-Hui are in charge of communication, coordination, guiding and counseling students with disability in NTHU. In the academic year of 2006, there are 63 students with disability totally in both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Object

Currently in the center we have 36 visual disabled, 3 hearing disabled, one oral disabled, 19 physical disabled, one multiple disabled, and 2 students with other types of disability. The services provided include improving their living environment, reinforcing their abilities of adjustment, physical health, academic study, mental health, and consulting career arrangement.

Purpose

The Center for Students with Disability (CSD) offers these students a space with suitable and benevolent services. We hope to provide an environment with least obstacles in order to assist the students to optimize their potential and to improve their quality of life.
